Beschreibung

We are seeking a highly-motivated student to investigate the structures of viral proteins essential for replication and transcription. The project is a joint endeavor between the Heinrich Pette Institute (HPI)  Research Department ‘Structural Cell Biology of Viruses’ (Prof. Kay Grünewald), the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM; group of Prof. Stephan Günther) and the group of Stephen Cusack (EMBL Grenoble). The Grünewald group’s lab is located in the newly established Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB; www.cssb-hamburg.de) at the Bahrenfeld-Campus in Hamburg. The successful candidate will employ state-of-the art structural biology tools such as electron cryo microscopy (cryoEM) to unveil high-resolution structures of functional protein complexes from medically relevant RNA viruses.
