Working Student Business Optimization & Steering (m/w/d)

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Assist the global roll-out of one of Hapag-Lloyd’s strategic projects to further improve the  global equipment imbalance situation  
  • Be part of a diverse, analytically minded team at Hapag-Lloyd with daily interactions with stakeholders across the globe. Get to know many of Hapag-Lloyd’s core processes.
  • Regular review of imbalance situations, coordination/alignment with business partners 
  • Develop tools in Excel to support this monthly review process
  • Assist with the extraction, preparation and visualization of data to support decision making 
  • Analysis of container supply and evacuation channels and related costs 
  • Support the coordination and preparation of workshops to develop and roll out new concepts and ideas

  • Currently enrolled in a full time study course at a University in Germany with a focus on Business Administration, Data Science or other equivalent fields 
  • Relevant practical experience (e. g.. Internships) and / or in-depth knowledge from the course of study
  • Interest to work with complex business scenarios and to abstractly design new processes 
  • Able to apply logical reasoning and comfortable working with optimizers, algorithms and mathematical models 
  • Good PowerPoint and Excel skills (including advanced formula use); QlikView, Alteryx or Python experience is a plus 
  • Good degree of initiative and commitment, as well as a very independent work organization
  • Strong social competence and very good communication skills in English (spoken and written) and preferably German

Time frame:
Start of the activity as soon as possible with a maximum weekly working time of 20 hours per week during the semester. During the semester break, the number of hours can be increased to max. 38 hours per week. The Project is planned to take place over at least 9 months.
