ROLE OVERVIEW: This is a unique opportunity to step into the logistics industry leader environment as Finance Accounting Specialist Europe . As a part of a team you will be contributing to the progression of APL Logistics across the countries: UK, Germany and Benelux.
You will be responsible for all accounting and reporting tasks aligned to secure high quality and effective accounting processes. This is also a great opportunity to work closely with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Helping with/executing on:

  • Standardized, accurate and timely closing of books
  • Accurate visibility on direct reports, trends and improvements
  • Smooth alignment with our shared service center (GSSC) on effective accounting
  • Clean and clear balance sheet reconciliation
  • Adequate, clear and timely reporting on various financial numbers
  • Timely and proper response on regional and corporate ad-hoc requests
  • Teamwork with Accounting and Reporting that all activities are done

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

As part of the team under the supervision of the Accounting and Reporting Manager help to execute / manage the following (not exclusively) below:

  • Accounting:
    • Correct standardized setup of Costcenter structure
    • Standardized and accurate activity based costing
    • Secure Fixed Assets and IFRS16 accounting
    • Approval and booking of correct SGNA costs
    • Secure all accounting is done in line with the relevant POM´s
    • Follow up and improve alignment and tasks with GSSC/CMAR
  • Closing:
    • Secure closing is in line with Standard, and within time set
    • Correct cut off on costing periods and cost estimates set
    • Work together with TR and MEA tea
  • Balance sheet:
    • Secure timely and correct Balance sheet recon.
    • Understand and stand by all items, and minimize risk for APLL
    • Follow up and improve alignment and tasks with GSSC/CMAR
  • Reporting:
    • Create and deliver standardized reporting for EMEA Management
    • Secure corporate reports (structured and ad-hoc) within time and as per expected quality.
    • Continues improvement on new reports, reactive and proactive
  • Tax:
    • Perform VAT filing for countries involved within time and quality
    • Create quarterly bookings as per corporate guideline (POM)
    • Secure and execute yearly tax filings.
    • Find improvements and optimization as well as risk around VAT and income tax
    • Secure on timely payments of all tax related matters.
    • Align with corporate TAX as well as external partners.
  • General/Other:
    • Support on and secure good Ratings with Internal Audit
    • Prepare and execute with External Auditors on statutory accounts
    • Help on “Check and Balances” and other future projects
    • Help in creating the budget and potential future RFC
    • Alignment with HR around Salary and HR/admin activities
    • Work together with core finance team on various topics and input
    • Support Controlling and Working Capital if required reactively and proactively
  • Any ad-hoc task if required

Anforderungsprofil

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or degree in related field plus relevant work experience
    (ex.: Ausbildung – Bilanzbuchhaltung)
  • Min. + 2 years of accounting work experience
  • MS Office skills – Good knowledge of Excel
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English required plus German is a big plus
  • Competency in accounting software would be an advantage
